School Events

Biz Kid$ is launching the new edition of its best-selling book How to Turn $100 into $1,000,000 with help from its not-for-profit friends. Credit unions are providing students at Title 1 schools grants at launch events during Financial Literacy Month! Up to one hundred students at each school will receive a copy of the book and a $100 deposit certificate to put what they learn into practice.

Hachette Publishing Group, the fourth largest book publisher in America, is supporting the schools and credit unions public relations support to launch the books with a short presentation of a jumbo check representing the $10,000 to the school's students, the books, and the $100 grants to the students.

The school's communications department and teacher choose the setting and time for the short presentation.

Credit unions give 5th-grade students across the nation the chance to turn $100 into $1 million.

How Does it Work?

Show Your School Spirit

The not-for-profit credit union sponsor may choose any Title 1 middle school in its FOM. Or if assistance is needed, Biz Kid$ will identify a school on its behalf. Biz Kid$ will help coordinate with the school to arrange a short launch event.

Managing The Media

Hachette's PR team works with the school and credit union to support the book launch event for Financial Literacy Month. It is recommended that the local mayor be asked to join the teacher, students, and credit union representative to highlight the importance of financial literacy.

The Money

The $100 grant is provided to each student as a deposit certificate. For the safety of the child and stability of the learning environment, cash shall not be distributed to students.

CU Expense

There is no cost for the event books or Biz Kid$ brand. The only expense for the sponsoring credit union is to provide a $100 grant per student up to 100 students. Biz Kid$ is intentionally not earning any money from the events.

School Activity

Each school chooses the design of the event beyond the short presentation. If the teacher has a full schedule, keep it brief and move on with the day. If the school communications team wants a bigger event, do it! If the teacher(s) wants to assign reading and a follow-up with the students- go teachers! The schools are at the steering wheel.

May We Buy More Books

Our sponsor is providing a maximum of 100 books per school. Credit unions, schools, and community groups can buy additional books at a rate significantly less than retail.
